CMS Delays Mailing Of New Medicare ID Cards

Alabama Live (4/11, Gore) reports that Medicare is “delaying mailing out new identification cards” in order to “beef up security measures while warning of possible scams.” Seniors “living in Delaware, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia were scheduled to begin receiving their new Medicare ID cards in April,” but “the new schedule has pushed the delivery date back to May.” CMS said, “We are working on making our processes even better by using the highest levels of fraud protection when we mail new cards to current Medicare beneficiaries.”
